THELMA B. JOHNSON EARLY LEARNING CENTER
The new Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center features classrooms equipped with smartboard technology, computer stations and learning design elements throughout the facility. The new ELC also includes four preschool resource rooms, a multipurpose room, a motor-skills room with a race-track floor and a floating ceiling that looks like clouds, media center, modern kitchen, cafeteria and administrative suite.
A number of safety features were incorporated in this building, including a secured front entrance, passkey-protected exterior doors, and an exterior playground area situated in the center of the facility, surrounded by the building’s walls. This project also included a 6,700-square-foot professional development center that is available for public use.
The 6,700 square feet Professional Development Center includes Meeting Rooms, a Family Resource room, staff offices and a conference room. The new Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center can serve up to 400 preschool aged children.
